This
is an example of a German Hunting sword. When the landed gentry would go a hunting...after
the peasants had flushed the beast out and the hounds brought it to bay the
master of the hunt would shoot it, then with great ceremony deliver the "Coup
de Gras" to the heart with a sword such as this. Note the lion and trumpets
on the ornate hilt and the brass inlays on the blade. |
