This item is a bit of a mystery. The sword is known to have come from around Sudan or Ethiopia, and the design of the grip would back that up. But the blade is more like a medieval crusader's. With both hands on the grip, the long blade is surprising light and well balanced. A fitting design for a time of chain mail and armor.
